Dr. Kenneth Thibodeau, Director of the Center for Advanced Systems and Technologies, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
Dr. Kenneth Thibodeau is Director of the Center for Advanced Systems and Technologies (NCAST) at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) of the U.S. Until recently, he served as Director of the Electronic Records Archives (ERA) program at NARA. Under his direction NARA successfully developed and implemented two versions of the ERA system serving the different needs of NARA's mission in the areas of federal and presidential records.
Dr. Thibodeau has 35 years experience in archives and records management, and is an internationally recognized expert in electronic records. He has served as Chief of the Records Management Branch of the National Institutes of Health, Director of the Center for Electronic Records at NARA, and Director of the Department of Defense Records Management Task Force. A Fellow of the Society of American Archivists and winner of the Emmett Leahy Award for outstanding contributions to the information and records management profession, in 2008 he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Archivist of the United States for pioneering contributions moving the National Archives to the forefront of e-government. Thibodeau has published over 30 papers and spoken at more than 150 conferences around the world. He earned a Ph.D. in the history and sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania, and held several post doctoral fellowships in computer science.
Ms. Krystyna Marek, Program Officer for Digital Repositories, European Commission
Ms. Krystyna Marek joined the European Commission in 2005 and is currently working for the Directorate-General Information Society and Media. She is with the "GÉANT and e-Infrastructures" unit, which supports e-Science by investing in Information and Communication Technologies based infrastructures like networks, e-Science grids, supercomputing and repositories of scientific data. She has been involved in the launch of the area of Scientific Data e-Infrastructures of the FP7 Capacities Programme and in particular follows the issues related to data in astronomy, biodiversity and climate. Ms. Krystyna Marek has a university background in Economics and European Studies.
Ms. Martha Anderson, Director of Program Management for the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP), Library of Congress (LoC), USA
Ms. Martha Anderson is Director of Program Management for the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP) at the Library of Congress. The program has developed a network of over 150 partners, nationally and internationally, to select, collect and preserve at-risk digital content. Today the program supports collaborative collection and preservation of digital content of high value for public policy decision makers as well as shared tools and services for sustaining diverse digital content for long-term access. She manages the web archiving program in support of the Library.s Digital Strategic Initiatives Program. She has served as a sponsoring representative on the NSF Blue Ribbon Task Force on Economic Sustainability of Preservation and Access. She also serves on the Steering Committee managing the communications for the International Internet Preservation Consortium. The IIPC is an international organization of 37 national libraries and non-profit archives dedicated to collecting and archiving significant content from the Web. Previously at the Library, she has served as project manager for the Office of Strategic Initiatives at the Library of Congress working with preservation architecture projects. During her tenure on the staff of the National Digital Library Program at the Library of Congress, Martha Anderson served in the roles of Manager of the Digital Conversion Group, Production Coordinator for American Memory historical web collections, Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) for the multi-year paper scanning contract and as the National Digital Library Program Liaison to the Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress.
Prior to joining the Library of Congress in 1996, Ms. Anderson worked in electronic publishing as editor and project manager for a variety of CD-ROM reference products including Time Almanac and the Patrologia Latina Database.
