Dr. Chris Greer, Assistant Director for Information Technology Research and Development, White House
Dr. Chris Greer is Assistant Director for Information Technology Research and Development in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). His responsibilities there include networking and information technology research and development, cybersecurity, and digital scientific data access. Prior to joining OSTP, Dr. Greer was Director of the National Coordination Office for the Federal Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Program. This program coordinates IT R&D investments across the Federal government. He is on assignment from the National Science Foundation where he has served in the Office of Cyberinfrastructure as Senior Advisor for Digital Data and in the Directorate for Biological Sciences. He currently serves as co-chair of the Interagency Working Group on Digital Data, which has been charged by the Committee on Science of the National Science and Technology Council with developing and promoting implementation of strategic frameworks for digital scientific data preservation and access.

Dr. Sylvia Spengler, Program Director in Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate, National Science Foundation (NSF)
Dr. Sylvia Spengler is a Program Director for the National Science Foundation in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate. There, her focus is on Information Integration and Informatics. Before coming to NSF, she was associated with the Program in Mathematics and Molecular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley and was co-Director of the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. Her specific interests are in data and information access, preservation and reuse, reflecting prior involvement with the Dept. of Energy Human Genome Program and its access policies. She represents NSF on the Interagency Working Group on Digital Data and is co-chair of the NITRD group on Human Computer Interaction and Information Management.

Dr. Kenneth Thibodeau, Director of the Center for Advanced Systems and Technologies, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
Dr. Kenneth Thibodeau is Director of the Center for Advanced Systems and Technologies (NCAST) at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) of the U.S. Until recently, he served as Director of the Electronic Records Archives (ERA) program at NARA. Under his direction NARA successfully developed and implemented two versions of the ERA system serving the different needs of NARA's mission in the areas of federal and presidential records. Dr. Thibodeau has 35 years experience in archives and records management, and is an internationally recognized expert in electronic records. He has served as Chief of the Records Management Branch of the National Institutes of Health, Director of the Center for Electronic Records at NARA, and Director of the Department of Defense Records Management Task Force. A Fellow of the Society of American Archivists and winner of the Emmett Leahy Award for outstanding contributions to the information and records management profession, in 2008 he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Archivist of the United States for pioneering contributions moving the National Archives to the forefront of e-government. Thibodeau has published over 30 papers and spoken at more than 150 conferences around the world. He earned a Ph.D. in the history and sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania, and held several post doctoral fellowships in computer science.

Dr. Francine Berman, Vice President of Research, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
Dr. Francine Berman is Vice President of Research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and former Director of the San Diego Supercomputer Center. A computer scientist and pioneer in Grid Computing, Dr. Berman is the inaugural recipient of the ACM/IEEE-CS Ken Kennedy Award for "influential leadership in the design, development, and deployment of national-scale cyberinfrastructure." Dr. Berman is one of the two founding Principal Investigators of the National Science Foundation's TeraGrid project, and also directed the National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure (NPACI), a consortium of 41 research groups, institutions, and university partners with the goal of building national infrastructure to support research and education in science and engineering. She has served on a broad spectrum of national and international leadership boards and committees including the National Science Foundation's Engineering Advisory Committee, the National Institutes of Health's NIGMS Advisory Committee, the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology Board of Trustees, and others. Designated a "Digital Preservation Pioneer" by the Library of Congress, Dr. Berman serves as co-Chair of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Sustainable Digital Preservation and Access.
